Privacy Policy

Last updated

This policy explains what information CodeNexon collects when you use codenexon.com, why it is collected and what you can do about it. CodeNexon is owned, developed and managed by Quavento Technologies.

The short version: you can read every page without an account, we do not sell personal data, the only personal detail we ask for is your email address if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter, and visit statistics are collected only if you accept analytics.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Newsletter email address. If you enter your email in the newsletter form, we store that address and the date you subscribed so we can send you the newsletter.
  • Emails you send us. If you write to us, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to reply and keep a record of the conversation.

Information stored in your browser

The site saves a few preferences on your own device using your browser's local storage. This data stays in your browser and is not sent to us.

Stored itemPurpose
Theme choiceRemembers whether you picked the light or dark theme
Saved postsKeeps the list of guides you bookmarked
Analytics choiceRemembers whether you accepted or declined analytics

You can remove these at any time by clearing site data for codenexon.com in your browser settings.

Information collected automatically

Like any website, the servers that deliver our pages receive technical details with each request, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Our hosting provider may keep these in server logs for security and troubleshooting.

If you choose "Accept" on the analytics banner, we use Google Analytics, provided through Google Firebase, to count visits and see which guides are read. It sets cookies in your browser and collects information such as the pages you view, the approximate region you are in, your device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. We use it to decide what to improve. We do not use it to identify you.

If you choose "Decline", or do not respond, analytics does not load and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.

How we use information

  • To send the newsletter to people who subscribed.
  • To reply to messages.
  • To keep the site secure and working.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which guides are useful, if you accepted analytics.

We do not use your information for automated decisions about you, and we do not sell or rent it.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

The site does not run advertising and has no affiliate tracking. Fonts are served from our own domain, so your browser does not contact a font provider when you load a page.

The only cookies the site sets are Google Analytics cookies, and only after you accept analytics. You can withdraw that choice through the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Google also offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics on every site.

If we add advertising or affiliate tracking in future, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.

Our guides link to vendor pages and other sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data.

How long we keep information

  • Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
  • Emails are kept for as long as needed to handle the request and for reasonable record keeping.
  • Browser-stored preferences stay on your device until you clear them.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Accept, decline or withdraw consent for analytics through "Cookie settings" in the footer.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any issue, or by emailing us.
  • Ask what personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete it.

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR in the European Union and United Kingdom or the CCPA in California may give you further rights, including the right to object to processing and to complain to a data protection authority. We will respond to requests within a reasonable time.

Children

CodeNexon is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of the page. Significant changes will also be noted in the newsletter.
